I am running PS2's and I like them for all around driving and Auto-X/track days. In Zone 8 (which I think you are) you can still run S/S class with PS2's or Advans. All the guys faster than me in street stock are on Advans

Toyo RA-1's are a great track tire (my brother runs them in 944 Spec class), a good street tire but will bump you to Stock class from Street stock. They do work in the rain but I think the Advans are better when it gets wet.
Tires are always a compromise.
