3.4L Transplant email

Hey everyone. I was just kicking around this idea for when my car needs a new engine someday. Seems a little pricy but it's essentially a new car afterwards. Here's the email correspondance:

Subject: 2001 986 Boxster conversion inquiry

I am very interested in doing a 3.4L swap from your company. My questions are:
1. How much for the kit?
2. How much for the labor?
3. Do I need to bring my boxster there? (I live in California)
4. Will it be smog legal here and if not, what do I have to do to make it so?
5. What kind of milage am I looking at city/fwy?
5. I want to spank my buddy's 350Z. Is this possible?

Thank you for your time.

Mr. Tan,

Thank you for contacting RUF in the USA. The 3.4 liter engine conversion is available for the 2000-2001 Boxster S. The price is $29,950 installed. These are estimated numbers from our RUF Boxster. You would average 19 to 20mpg. It would have 310hp, 171mph top speed, zero to sixty in 5.1 seconds, to 100 in 12.4 seconds, which should be enough to leave your buddy's 350Z in your rear view mirror. All RUF conversions must be installed by a RUF technician, which would require that you ship your car to our facility in Dallas.

The 3.4 conversion is smog legal in California.

Please contact me with any other questions or if you would like to schedule a conversion.

Thanks!
