Just exchanged some info with Tom concerning the red seat belts. They are for 2002 and later 986 models as they have the "pyrotechnic" explosive activators that work in harmony with the air bag system deployment. I tried removing my seat belt reels on the 2000 model and they are quite easy to do if anyone was interested.
