Value of mods.
I decided to write up this info. for your enlightenment. The most of the data comes from Porsche Boxster Story, The Entire Development History, by Paul Frere. June '06 Haynes Publishing , UK.

The Cayman info. came from the June '07 copy of Excellence magazine. What makes this interesting is you can line up the modifications you want to make against what Porsche itself has added over the years and see if you are getting bang for your buck. Consider, that it took a jump from 220 hp in '03 to 240 in '05 in order to gain 2 tenths of a second 0-62. Will your new muffler give you a 10 hp gain and the same 2 tenths reduction in speed?
I did not include the Boxster S data for clarity but I could send that if some of you wish. I did not do this in order to discorage anyone from mods. but to set some guidelines of what you will be gaining ...or not... A lighter muffler may help with acceleration for sure as will a lighter battery etc., ad absurdum as you start stripping the car. You can see what the 3.4 does to acceleration. Given that we live in the US where we have no Autobahn where we can go over 100 mph, which Porsches are made to do with reliability, we do not have the torque for stoplight runs but can maintain speed through corners and that is where our advantage lies. Seems like the best mods would be to lighten up the car a bit, and enhance the suspension and tires if you want more out of your base model Boxcars.
