The EVO had no chance.

EVO is down 33 HP and has 4wd which eats up more HP than 2wd....the race was over before it began.

Well, the Evo had some work done. Aftermarket blow-off valve, exhaust, who knows what else. A lot of essentially-free mods can be done that give them quite a bit more horsepower than stock, but still would've been down on power most likely.

There's a *few* mature Evo drivers out there...

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

Did anyone notice how they were trying to size up the BMW before they decided to race it? (i.e. "is that an M3 or an M5", "is it AWD or RWD") That kind of defeats the idea of racing someone in the first place if you already figure that you can beat them. I wouldn't race a chevette with my porsche. I think psycologically speaking, these guys were seeking a form of domination over another person. By using a car where some others would use violence, intellect or something else. Kind of like how a bully would pick on smaller kids.

But then again, as fast as an EVO may be, it's still a Mitsubishi Lancer. Oh, er, I mean, cool vid!

I've seen this vid before. It's funny how they shutup pretty quick once the race gets underway and the M3 starts putting buslenghs on them.

I likey the M3. How would the M3 fair against the Boxster in a match up like that.

Adam, you ever match up against one?

Nope, haven't had the pleasure yet but if I ever do I will post it up. I've driven but not raced my Dad's 2000 M5 and it is a good deal faster than my S especially over 100mph. It just has so much more power and torque to cut through the wind at the upper end. The M3 is a mid to low 13 sec car that traps around 105-106mph in the 1/4 with a decent driver. The box S is a high 13 sec car that traps around 102ish mph so the boxster doesn't have a chance unless the M3 drivers is totally clueless on how to drive. On a side not though, the boxster is a more fun car to drive than the M5 even though it is a slower car. I was actually considering a M3 cabbie before I drove the boxster. Once I drove the S though there was no looking back. The M3 cabbie actually weighs 250lbs more than the coupe and is a total pig weighing in around 3,700lbs. That car is marginally quicker than the S because of it's extra heft and it would be more of a "drivers" race than anything.

An M3 coupe is a sweet car. The ragtop is pretty much for show but nice just the same.

greed. the box and the m3 are totally 2 breeds of animals.

m3 is the ultimate machine for bimmer and the boxster is more entry class cruising car so i wouldnt draw any comparisions since it would be unfair,

but bring in a 996 and then we would have a show down between whos a better driver !
