... there is more wood coming

restored wooden shift pattern on the stick

TEST FITTING (in front of the grilles, not parallel adjusted yet)
Getting closer to the final design and if I am lucky, I might not have to extend cables…

BRAN 06-14-2020 11:59 AM

and another bespoke WIP-mod...making little alu mountings (not that I want to, because it is so much fun) for the DRLs.
I really wonder, how the DRL will look, especially with those grilles in front. Well we'll see...

BRAN 06-16-2020 10:38 AM

Those little suckers are BRIGHT...I will tilt them down as much as possible (only a few degrees possible though)...and final adjustments and fixation will be next.
4 LEDS per side would have been more than enough, well...I have 6 now...lol

BRAN 06-21-2020 11:59 AM

almost there...

DRLs are not glary anymore...weirdly they are in the pics...lol

BRAN 06-25-2020 12:01 PM

Thank you, guys...appreciate it.
Now tinkering with the front splitter, fitment and stuff...should sit right underneath the air intake...let's see what I can do.

I finally finished my mobile hardtop holder, which can also hold the Speedster humps OR 2-4 bike tyres in front (facing the wall). Can't get any more efficient than that...

Update on my TMPS project:
The Chinese BLE TMPS arrived. I had a couple of questions and VXDAS customer support offered EXCELLENT, fast and detailed, customer support. That is really noteworthy!
So far, under test lab conditions (a hair dryer blowing warm air on a sensor...lol), I got nicely animated results with in my iOS app (android is available too).
Update frequency seems a little random, but that is probably due to my tast lab conditions, which means not installed on a wheel.
The Valves are made out of aluminum, which is required for high speed tires. Sadly they could not officially confirm Vmax >250km/h. Will see what the tires shop has to say about them...
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1504183939.jpg
I have NO CLUE how they communicate with my iPhone, as I cannot see any TMPS device in my Bluetooth settings, at all. Must be Chinese magic :D

… sorry I'm late to the party. LOL

How do you like them? Do you have your phone mounted somewhere?

I went for the cheap cap version, then attached them to the valve stems inside the tires.

It was really cool mounting the tires because it gave pretty real time air pressures while inflating.

I just like that you can change the batteries on the sensors. You can't do that on new model cars; your only option then is to replace the whole sensor and pray the battery hasn't been sitting on the shelf too long.

TBH I didn't even know you were a fellow Z-topper till you posted the neato storage crate. The throwback vents over the rear hatch are a nice touch.

BRAN 08-15-2020 02:24 AM

How do you like them?
--I think they are great. Plan next year with new tires: install high end (V-max >250km/h) Alligator valves in them. ;)

Do you have your phone mounted somewhere?
-- Yes, iPhone plus horizontally mounted. Modded "Wasteland" style mount with wireles recharging

--Most important for me is to have excellent valves and if the batteries die a year before I change tires (every ~6 years), that is okay with me.

will update the old pictures when installed again (dec2020?)...I like the fresh air too much, to have it installed permanently.

BRAN 08-27-2020 02:50 PM

still something in my back head...plus an adjustable suspension...(kinda for the harsh winter times...in siberia, lol) :D

BRAN 09-05-2020 07:16 AM

After exchanging the passenger airbag cover, I discovered the perfect spot for my Kenwood active Mini-Sub. Yup, facing downwards, right under the airbag.
There is enough room and clearing space to the airbag system. Will cut a hole into the dashboard, attach the sub inside with 4 screws and cover it with a modded Kenwood mesh.
Going to use my favourite tool for that:A multi cutter, much faster than my Dremel

Riggsbie 09-05-2020 05:15 PM

Sounds interesting... pictures please :)

BRAN 09-16-2020 08:40 AM

Most of the cocoa interior parts are still available from PORSCHE, for really cheap money.......not.
Some major parts are already gone forever...sadly.
1. cocoa dashboard
2. cocoa firewall carpet
3. cocoa subwoofer box
Sooo, I am going to keep my sturdy black dashboard and see what I can do with it. Will upholster the lower part with cocoa leather after modding the subwoofer into it.

yep...OEM cocoa airbag cover & upholstered cocoa leather dashboard defroster trim plus cocoa stitching. Looks 100% OEM, but it actually never existed. :D

BRAN 11-08-2020 06:56 AM

UNUSED SPACE put to use...
It is a struggle to grind those inner support strips down for a flash and tight fight. But I am getting there...
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1604850223.jpg
...the amp (in a small bespoke case) will be sitting right of the sub, towards the vent.
AND the final mods will be, the original black protective mesh and cococa leather.

Your feet are gonna "FEEL THE NOISE". LOL

You say mesh, but I feel plexiglass covering... with backlighting. :D

BRAN 01-27-2021 06:27 AM

I like to split hairs. Bespoke & customised...both are referring to a contractual situation with at least 2 individuals, most likely with a commercial background (seller-customer).
So I agree, neither can I use the term bespoke nor customised, if I craft or modify something on my own. :D

Not sure, if those were shown here already, but I found new side markers...will shoot some better pics (I was actually just checking, if they work).
REALLY AFFORDABLE, don't want to use the word "cheap", as they seem to be of good quality. A steal! Certified, road legal!
Plain like the OEM ones, not raised like the aftermarket ones I have. Plug'n'play, perfect fit.

Thanks Bart,

Chrome rings: Offered by a company from Poland. A quality product, no doubt. I need to concentrate not to misspell their name, let's see "DIDO TUNING"
Cluster: Long time ago...year 2004 not sure what model, but I followed the 101 projects guide line, what to get and what to avoid.
