Rear bumper.....is mine......?

Hi all, been looking thru the various pics of all of your cars and notice that only a small number have rear bumpers with the rear "spats" on, either side of the exhaust....were these an aftermarket bumper or factory option...?

See pic....

My 2003 s came supplied from the factory fitted with this type of rear bumper cover as standard, it is not listed as an optional upgrade on the Certificate of Authenticity against my VIN number, though it was available as an option for 2.7 cars , strange thing is we have three other 2003 s in my local Porsche club and the have the standard rear bumpers without the vent slots, the owners always ask me did I have it retro fitted. Maybe only the later 03 s cars got them as a standard factory fitment ?.

The bumpers are stock to the 2003 & 2004 models. There is

an aftermarket piece that replicates the "spats" to some extent for the 97-02 models.

Could it be a US requirement? My 74 BMW 2002 had "big" bumpers, whereas the European cars had small bumpers. My 02 Boxster base has the bumper pads too. Pic is side view, but can see a bumper pad. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1422557496.469801.jpg

It was standard after the refresh for '03. The bumperettes are to meet USA bumper requirements, although Canadian cars got them too.
