I ordered the new brake discs and pads :)

and cleaned the car !

but the bumper is still in bad shape if you look too close :/
http://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2014/...5141112195.jpg

I still haven't find a machine shop to do my shifter job :/ they don't want to do just 2 tiny rods :/
Aren't some of you interested by a ballbearing short shifter ?

Ben006 10-28-2014 09:44 AM

Changed the klimatronic position :)

Well, I still have to make something to hide the mess in the bottom :)

next thing is to paint the windshield bottom trim (and don't know how to call it in english ?)

next week I should have my tools from the school (well... I hope !)

And I finally manages to get the ball bearings on the shifter (by myself ... no one want to do the job on so tiny parts :/), still need a little work and it will be perfect ! next thing will be : test it in the car !

Got the tools from school today ! nice set of tools and good quality !

:D

I also got the modified shifter with the ball bearings in !
I didn't expect so much improvement over stock !
There is no more play in the assembly, you just feel the play in the cables and gearbox itself !

Tomorrow maybe I will change the brakes discs and pads and next week the spark plugs and serpentine belt !

Ben, why did you decide to come to the USA for automotive school rather than staying in France? There must be good programs there, too. Just curious.

Ben006 11-05-2014 04:48 PM

when you are a car enthousiast, you don't want to stay in France ^^

I had the opportunity to study here, so I took it and we'll see what I can do next :)

In France, there are some programs: to become a simple mechanic, or an engineer... there is no in-between :/

I already have a degree as an industrial maintenance technician, and I tried engineering school last year... and despite coming 4th on the competitive exam, I found that it was too difficult and I quickly realize that, that was not the kind of job I wanted (I did the same mistake with my first degree in "mechanical design" ...).

I know that those jobs would have make me earn a lot of money, but I'd rather do something I like more (getting my hands dirty by building, creating etc).

Now, I try to be in the head of class (I don't know the other's grades, but I might be close to the top :) )

If I can't work here after my degree, I will go back to France and try to find a job In Monaco in a luxury car dealership.

The only advantage of french schools is that they are mostly free ... not 40K

Snap-On accept no substitute!

Ben006 11-19-2014 11:46 AM

those are "carlyle" I don't know this brand but they seem good for now :)

http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2014/...9490615198.jpg
my friends bought their car too, a SLK320 and a TT 3.2 :) a nice set of german cars to complete with the boxster !

speaking of the boxster, I tried to give a second life to my yellow headlights :

http://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2014/...4907216239.jpg

2h30 to do one light !
I screw the second one :/ it's in fair condition but not perfect, I will have to do it again :/

I also win some entry ticket for a drag race at PBIR the 29th :)

Ben006 11-23-2014 02:37 PM

I got the aux cable for the cdr 22 in :)
works nice !

still need to make a center console !

I will also put negative camber in the front since I currently have close to positive camber and makes the car understeer sometimes.

And finally I still need to find 2 more person for the shifters group buy :/

Ben006 11-25-2014 05:23 PM

I have some news :)

First, I'm a bit concerned about my coolant temperature :/
in normal condition, everything's good, just a bit over 180F.
but today (it was more than 90F today) I tried a little 0 to 60 (and more ...) and the temp immediatly rose to 200F (lets say around 200, I can't tell exactly, but more than usually).

This is not really HIGH temp, but I'm more concerned about the it came to this temperature after just 10s of full throttle !
Is that the same with you ?

then, I know cars lose power when the weather is hot and humid. but it seems that it lost too much power. Porsche ECU are that conservative ?
intake temp is 111F wich is really high too (same day, on a f150, I measured 90F)

I may be a little paranoid about that ^^

next, I went for the first time on a junkyard today, found great things :)
http://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2014/...4507914209.jpg
the switch and horns are for a friend, and the intake tube and the strut brace ... I will make them fit ^^

I started my centerconsole !

http://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2014/...4506160697.jpg
http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2014/...4509222770.jpg

it's looking rough, but i plan on cover it, so I don't car about scratches now :)

If I can make it fit and looking worthy of a porsche, I might make a few for the forum :)

this is it.

Hi !
Today I tested a boxster S tip tronic for a friend :)
He bought it !
The S is really different !

If you want one, PM me ;)

Next level : cleaning the radiators, open the wheel well, and putting on my headers !

BIGJake111 12-01-2014 01:04 PM

Very nice! What do you think of the S? Any big opinions, I upgraded to an S but had been out of a boxster for a while so it mostly felt the same to me.

Ben006 12-01-2014 02:02 PM

The S has clearly more torque in the low rev range, but feels less punchy in the top end (probably due to the fact that the torque curve is more linear).

It doesn't make much more sound than the 2.7 either.

I didn't try the full braking power, but I'm sure there is a big improvment over the base model here !

The suspensions are much stiffer, but still comfortable. The S may be more fun when driving at the limits.

But I really don't like the center opening for the third radiator ... it looks like a cheap aftermarket part !

They both have pros and cons :)

TRIXZBIT 12-26-2014 04:18 PM

looks cool!

15mm spulen spacer :D with H&R long bolts !

can't wait to put them on !

spacers are on :D

I love it !
you can compare with the picture in the first post :)

15mm is just right, it looks like factory, but more agressive !

Ben006 02-09-2015 12:11 PM

already 6000miles behind the wheel !

to celebrate, I'm waiting for 10L of 10w40 liqui moly engine oil, a 6month engine cleaning kit from liqui moly too.

a few missing clips and nuts, a new shift knob

and a plenum for the larger throttle body wich is going to be a great addition to the headers !
the engine will not receive much more modifications, maybe an underdrive pulley and a tune and that will be it !

now ... i'm waiting

Now my MAF starts to go bad, I had the CEL come up once, I erased the trouble codes, will see... I bought some CRC MAF cleaner.

And I'm still working on the intake beetween two classes ...
