Say hello to Boxy Grannis
I figure it's only appropriate to give my new car a proper introduction to the forum rather than in bits and pieces I'm various threads..... Well, here she is:
Ill probably update this thread with the mods and upgrades I do to her along the way. So stay tuned :) http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/20/hyvuve6u.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/20/epuse3ur.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/20/5yvuhuba.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/20/3yquve7u.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/20/u7ysatu8.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/20/y6y9yma4.jpg |
Great car and color, i love these 996 MKII headlights, please post more about the mods...

Just updating with my 3-spoke steering wheel addition.

Congrats and great looking car w/ the 996 front end makeover and all.
Did you do the front conversion? If not, any idea about vehicle history as a well known one used to be on here owned by Jeff (?) a few years back. Small world and very karma cool if it resurfaced again here. Drive her in good health! :) |
Say hello to Boxy Grannis
Hahahaha! Jeph was indeed the proud owner of this car! It was purchased from him a couple years ago by someone else and now by me. I've already had a chance to talk with Jeff about it and send him updates on how the car is doing lol.
That guy loves this machine.... But I fully understand why. :) |
cool car name, where'd you get it, the toilet store?
 |
Ahhh a silver Porsche!
Quick, BLACK wheels, and get rid of that heavy 39,872 kilograms useless hard roof thing. +525 horses |

Just adding the ipad install to the list of mods. Before http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/01/meqa7eby.jpg After http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/01/7ydezery.jpg |
Decided to update my keys a bit. I vinyl wrapped one and sprayed/ glossed the other. I'll do a week long test to see how they hold up.

(you got rid of this fat, heavy and fugly roof yet?!) |
I've kept the roof :) actually, I drove the car to work today with the roof on. The soft top is due for replacement though. The top itself is wearing out and the plastic window in the back is, of course, cracked. I've been looking into GAHH tops and I'm really close to pulling the trigger on one. I'm trying to figure out what color I want for the top. Right now it's between Orion Gray, Space Gray, Black, or Brown.
|
I decided to give the car some dimension this weekend by adding a rear PORSCHE logo and an offset stripe. I was hesitant on the stripe for a while but figured, as I get older, I'll be less likely to put one on my car. So, it's now or never. Besides.... YOLO. ;)

I just liked this picture so much

^ "Porsche after Sex" lovely
This below is also nice. Love the stripes, great that you've selected the correct (inverted) offset-tone and placed them on the left side of the body. Uniqueness rules! Very elegant http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/12/a2eqaryj.jpg PS: What on earth is wrong with the shadows in your area?? If you look at the little skinny bush's shadow.... the shadow is twice the size of the bush and so dark. Isn't it a bit scary when you folks walk out and have those 'horror movie dark' shadows following you?! I'm stuck in a heavily polluted area, I don't get to see any of those ;) |
Say hello to Boxy Grannis
Thanks! I think the stripe turned out perfectly. I love the effect it gives off. The stripe goes from completely matching the cars paint to a super vivid silver depending on the lighting and angle. I'll try and take a video walk-around, it's awesome and I think it's a really unique and classy look since it looks like only a portion of the stripe is visible as you drive by. Kind of like the stripe is sliding down the car. It's really cool.
Unfortunately, the rain started today so I'll have to wait on that video a couple days. Oh... And the shadow you see in the picture of a palm tree that's off camera haha. We do have pretty nice contrast in this area though :P |

Finished the UDP installment last Friday. I decided to weigh the new pulley vs the stock. This is what I got
Stock: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/22/2esupe5y.jpg Aftermarket: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/22/y4ygyhy7.jpg The car does feel peppier, I really feel it when I'm accelerating out of a curve in a low gear. From a dead start, the car feels just as quick but I do hit the upper RPMs quicker so maybe the car is a tad faster.... Or my clutch is going I think the next addition to the car will be deleting the two extra cats in the exhaust... That's after I address the little problem of my camshaft sensor cel. |
Keeping with tradition, I need to add some more upgrade photos

The "before" picture is gorgeous. :)
The "after" picture is...................you know, you may be better served if you actually drove your Boxster instead of modded it.............. ;) Just sayin'............ TO |

Hahaha, plasti dip peelable paint ;). Not the best after picture of the car... I agree. The before is right after a wash and wax, while the after is at least three weeks and like 700 miles without one. Thinking back at it... I've had the car for just under three months now and put 4k miles on it so far :) modding after work and driving on the weekends. Tis the life. |
You can't deny this angle

I believe I may have come across as incredibly rude in my post. I apologize for that.
A lot of people are jumping on the black wheel bandwagon; I'm not one of them. The Carrera wheels are pricey and gorgeous in their stock silver trim. IMHO, painting them black is almost sacrilegious. TO |

If you think that's low caliber and sac-religious, just wait till you see what I got coming soon. It's gonna blow you away. Epapp knows what I'm talking about... Muahaha |
I think Johnnys post was sarcastic...but since youve let the dingdong out of its woohoo, your upcoming mod is borderline absurd.
You will most likely MARGINALLY pull it off, although you will leave much room for improvement by certain people on here named 'epapp'...whenever he decides to do it |

Say what you like because I know that as soon as you see it, you'll be texting me for the DIY... Just like the iPad mini install. And technically, it increases horsepower too. |
Car looks great but you might want to rethink the UDP you have. I believe that your UDP is the one prone to breaking. The RSS or Pedro's seems to be the better choice. I don't have a UDP but I have been contemplating one. Take a look here:

I know the bbi pulley has some bad history. I ordered the RSS and got that in the mail. I compared the pulley with the bbi ones that have failed and this one looks a bit different. I got a partial Refund from the supplier and decided to install this one anyways. Though it's like drawing straws, it's held up fine and I inspect it like almost every weekend. |

Really like when people add the text to the rear. Love it.

I took this picture the other day and I just have to share it with you guys.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1389374176.jpg Definitely my new iPad background. lol. |
It's funny, your car is the same color in a photo that lacks color, as it is in one that doesn't. Must be a boring color!

Man... I think I'll have nightmares for the next coming nites. That looks a bit too satanic for me lol

Hahaha, satanic is a bit extreme. I should show you the original picture. Blue skies, birds chirping, kids running around... It's amazing what the iphone black and white filter can do. If only I had some demon eyed headlights :P... |
