First Photos

Well, I've been reading as much as possible on this forum over the past few months and have added my comments along the way, but I had not added any photos until now. In June I purchased my Arena Red Metallic 2000 Base Boxster with Savanna Beige interior.

Looks well cared for! Like others, I think that color really makes the car look great. The dark colors on these cars just seems to work.

I believe I see LED lights in the grilles. Are those your doing?

Thanks, everyone. I like the Arena Red color and the fact that it is uncommon. Yes, the DRL's were actually an add-on that Pedro installed.

Here are some shots of my engine before and after cleaning.

BEFORE

AFTER

I know our engine bays are not readily seen by anyone other than us, however, I feel better knowing that the engine is clean.

Thanks, CB551. I cleaned the engine as follows.

1. Cleaned with Fantastik and paper towels, trying to wipe off as much of the dust and grime as possible.
2. I then sprayed the engine with Fantastik and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
3. I then slowly poured hot water over the engine, and then dried it with paper towels.
4. After it was completely dry, I sprayed it with CD-2, which is an engine detailer made by Turtle Wax.

I had Pedro from Pedro's Garage install the LED DRL's for me. He also sells them for anyone interested in DIY.

Well, what a beauty, I have the same color combo, just never knew what the color is called :-) Mine is a 99 Boxster with now 155k miles; I'm the 2nd owner and have put the last 56k miles onto it and can't think of a better car to drive! Enjoy your beauty!!

Beautiful car and engine! I love that color combination. Now I am going to have to make the time to clean my engine. That looks great!

Thanks, Bruce. Cleaning the engine on the Box was easier than in other cars I've had (other than the accessing the engine part). Ours only seem to get dusty but not a lot of grime due to being enclosed.

I know others have said the "wet look" looks good.

While the engine DOES LOOK shiny, in this pic it does not look clean. It looks splotchy like it has "spotted engine fever" or is that PRIOR to WIPING off? Your Throttle Body is covered in spots!!

I have found that DRY works best. The engine gets a lot of warm air and dust (or whatever is on the road surface) from underneath. It may "bake on" some chemicals if left on. I take a lot of dirt roads, so I have to clean my engine frequently. I have found that using simply WD-40 and then wiping it down does best. Takes more elbow grease but my engine really thanks me for it later! Did you clean your TB inside while you were there?

Congrats on the new car! Love that color combo.
