The aluminum, stainless steel and rubber parts will all corrode/dry out/degrade with the salty winter driving. It's certainly not good for the car to drive around in a salt bath, but if he doesn't care, more power to him.

If you look at the underside of a Boxster that's driven in the winter compared to one that isn't, there's a pretty noticeable difference.
