new 993

hello all ... just wanted to share just got myself the car I'd always wanted in college...

my dream porsche 911 993...

imported a 96 polar silver carrera from tokyo..and after three months of waiting for shopping and customs, and baseline repairs... i finally got it this week and I love it....

such a different drive......very raw feel...and lovin that raspy engine note!

it's truly a car with alotta character... so old school in feel... and so nimble on the turns...it's quite a distinct feel... so uncivilized compared to the boxster...which still has charms of its own too...the boxster feels so much more modern...and i love em both in equal parts... well to be honest the 993 has a bit of a sentimental edge... if only for its olden timer quirkiness...

here are some pix

and the car when it first arrived

here's the rest of the fam...

In my mind, the 993 was the epitome of what a Carrera should look like. It would be refreshing to see Porsche revisit that design for future styling cues .

agreed....i was glad to see the 997 take a step back in that direction. these cars need HIPS. the 996 really didn't have any (save the c4).

Wow, I'm jealous. What a great car! I understand your sentiment about the car's old timer quirkiness, although the 993 is pretty well refined. I've got a '72 914 that's my daily driver and my favorite because of this. I think my '72 has tons more character than my '00 Box or '03 C4S. The next car I want to get is an early 911. Maybe not fast and I'm sure the brakes will suck when compared to my C4S, but I think an early 911 or 912 would just be a lot of fun and they are sooooooo easy to work on in comparison.
