scoobyrex27, that Monster is SICK!!!!!!!
guess teaching jobs pay better than i thought....hmmm.
i am considering getting one. thinking of selling my R1. i dont take it to the track enough and i want bit more comfort now. again, your bike is one of the nicest ones i've seen.

ps, question, i am so use to the fuel injection. yours is a carb right? my old gixxer was carb and gave me some hesitation. how about yours? and ducati's clutch that stiff? i've heard some bad things about the clucth, only the clutch.

scoobyrex27 04-24-2005 11:52 AM

Thanks kajita.

I don't have many bad things to say about this bike. I have not had a problem with the carbs. I run a stage one kit and some beefy wires with iridium plugs and just foam air filter pods (no airbox). Mixture is good and it runs great. Nice sound too!!

This bike does it all and is much nicer to ride around town, more comfortable position than my friends r6.

The clutch can get tiring but I have a smaller front sprocket so it is good at low, parking lot speeds and I will eventually get a new clutch slave cylinder to make it easier.

Best thing about this bike is the sound. It is a tough choice in the morning: Boxster or Monster? :D

Ducs sound nice. TWIN growl I assume!

My one and only bike is a 1968 Triumph Bonneville. Paid $800 for it in 1973, rode it from MN to Nova Scotia in September of that year - no fairing, no electric start. Had no other transportation for a couple of years, then got married, etc. etc. So now it's in long term storage waiting for a cash infusion and some uninterrupted time to rebuild it.
BTW, it could do 0-60 in 5 flat which is what the 987S (which gets delivered this week) is supposed to do, 30 years wait... Gawd, am I old!!

That Bonny is a classic. We need some pix please!

That's what I'm talking about!!!

Awesome bikes, guys!

I'm new to the board (just got my '02 boxster a couple of nights ago). I totalled my '03 GSX-R1000 street bike a couple of weeks back and the boxster is its (wife-mandated) replacement. Oh well, I still have the green light to hit the track with my f4.

Kajita, sorry to hear about the sale. That bike must've been wicked fast.

I'm going for a "ride" and hittin' the twisties with my motorcycle group (lowaltitudepilots.com) tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep up with them in the box. Wish me luck.

BTW, check out my office. Gotta love bikes!

Try a test ride on a Buell XB. I think you might like it.

Good luck!

CR250 Supermotard

...work in progress. It's a '97, finally got it through NJ DMV (titled, plated, registered, & insured)...added the baja designs dual sport kit, now just need to get it inspected & I'm off! Attached photo is what I'm aiming for...I have no idea how to get that single swing arm, though.

2000 Aprilia RSV 1000

I love this bike, I have taken it to Laguna Seca three years in a row to check out the AMA, World Superbike and just recently the Moto GP guys. I have a friend that lives in Templeton and we ride up Highway 1 to the races. There is usually 5 or 6 of us riding up Highway 1. Man it is just awesome!!! What a ride!
