My First Porsche, a 2000 Boxster
Wow, this is my first post!! I've been a lurker on this forum for awhile and have learned alot by keeping my mouth shut, reading and planning my first Porsche purchase. I was at one time planning on a used 996, or even leasing a 987, but decided instead to try and find a clean affordable 986. I found my car after months of looking and driving alot of used Porsches.
I just picked her up last night...going to really detail her this weekend, but she's pretty clean already....the pictures of her in the garage that look like chips in the fender, are "florida love bugs...the car was covered in them driving back from Tampa to Fort Myers... ( thats my neighbors garage...he's a old Porsche Mechanic who is a "snow bird, he now back up North.Ii sent him that to tease him!) Triple black, 5 speed, low miles...The Porsche dealer gave her a clean bill of Health
I'm already planning an exhaust and new gauge faces
Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I had driving her! You can tell from the pics I'm a happy man!

Well, let me be the first to welcome you! It looks like you've found a really well preserved car. You can't go wrong with triple black!
You've been a lurker, so I'm sure you know that the forum is a great place, full of knowledge, advice and a sprinkling of drama.
I hope you love your car!

Congratulations,
Your Porsche is in great shape!
I too have been searching for a long time and just recently purchased a 2000 986. It is also triple black with a 5 speed. It has the sports package, the 17 " wheels, 21k miles and runs like the day it came off the show room floor. I am very happy!
I really like the wheels on your Boxster. Which ones are they? Did they come with the car or did you upgrade them?
Anyway, I hope you are having as much fun as I am!

Thanks for some nice replies
The wheels came on the car. The car has 44,000 miles...about 5000 miles a year..not abused. I have all of the service records along with all manuals, original sticker and even re-seller sticker ( was sold in late 2003 for $35,983)
I found one heck of a deal. My daughters boyfriend just came home for summer and when he asked me how much I paid for it, he just about freaked out as he paid more for his used Honda SUV than i paid for my Boxster! I told him for a college student he made a great choice, can't beat a Honda for a daily driver. I don't think I would buy a Porsche as a daily driver...this is a weekend "toy" for me. we have 3 other cars, one of them being my wifes Mercedes SLK..so know we have 2 toys

Welcome!
Love your choice of triple black ... hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Nothing like a shiny black Porsche. Watch out for when it's hot out though, yikes that interior can get hot! Treat the car well and it will usually give the same back to you.
Best Regards
Josh

Always good to see a new member especially when they have the Porsche side effect known as "PERMA-GRIN" may you have many more of those and enjoy it in good health!

ROFLMAO!! That's not my beer fridge.. mine is filled with Beamish Stout .my next door neighbor is a "snowbird" he's back up North...so I'm using his garage all summer so I don't have to share it with my wife's SLK

You guys are going to really sick of this car!:
Spent hours detailing this weekend. Purchased a Porter Cable 7424 Dual action Random Orbital buffer, a ton of Meguiars products and went crazy!
IMO, she looks better than new...got to get some eyelids!
