Thumbs up My very first BOXSTER

So I picked up a 2000 Boxster, for what I consider a great deal.

This is the link with pictures and the info of what I paid off Ebay.

I talked to the dealer numerous times, and have had it checked out, and everything is A-Okay.

Any comments are welcome, as well as concerns/suggestions/life-enhancing revelations.

2000 Porsche Boxster

Thanks!

-Kevin

Is it really so surprising? Thousands of people buy vehicles over Ebay each month.

Besides...I drove one up here to get the feeling of a Boxster, and I had that one checked out by both a private mechanic as well as a friend of mine who is on base in the area.

So did I drive that Porsche? No. But I know how a Boxster feels, I know it checks out fine, and my buddy drove it with no problems. Some people that "drive" a car before they buy it never even get as technical as I've already been.

No disrespect taken.

Congratulations drive it and use it wisely. Enjoy the car it is a blast to drive and the handling is great. Made the right decision. Again congrats and welcome to the group. I will tell you a little secret I never drove mine before being handed the key to drive it out of the showroom. I did sit in it though. The sales manager told me wait till you get it and drive at 4000 rpm it will put a big smile in your face. He was right because as I drive I have a perennial grin enjoying the car.

I bought my Boxster without ever driving it, same with two Lexus', an Acura, a Jeep, a Mustang, a jet ski and two Nissan's. I buy the seller, not the car.

I guess the point was missed with my comment, unlike your:

Lexus', Acura, Jeep, Mustang, jet ski and two Nissan's. They were punched out of a mold, each one of our PORSCHE's are different.

Each car seems to be an entirely different animal from each other.

Once again, buying a PORSCHE is special, each is special unto itself.

Good luck with all of your cars...

Actually, one of the most interesting characteristics of the Boxster is the similarity between models. Though Porsche had to stretch and increase production from ZUFFENHAUSEN to add another factory (VALMET), its near impossible to tell which factory a car is from.

Porsche has done a very good job at keeping the ultra precision of its marque constant though producing at two different factories, a feat it has had to do on numerous occasions when the demand is pleasantly much more than the initial supply. Therefore, sitting in one Boxster and driving it feels as wonderfully thrilling as sitting in another Boxster and driving it.

I would hate to assume that a Boxster COULD be a piece of crap, and therefore placed my faith that a well-maintained and loved Boxster would drive just as the others that I have driven.

I can see where you're coming from...after all, a porsche is an intense machine, the finest in my own mind. I drove a Boxster for a week a few months ago, and I have had the yearning to own one ever since. More like burning desire...

I've always loved Porsche. As I don't have the mobility that a lot of you do to drive to different states and check out deals and drive the cars (ah, the military) - I have to rely on doing business from afar.

So that's my final stand...I can't wait to get my hands on it, and to experience my first journey into the porsche world. Thanks for all of your comments. Keep them coming!

While from different factories, the quality may be the same, you do have to be careful of what the owners did to the car since they left the factory. If you have had the car properly inspected hopefully all will be well.

Enjoy the vehicle and congratulations on the purchase.

^^^Indeed...that's a great point. Its being inspected over night, as we speak, so that I know there are no big surprises...I can hardly wait until August when I get to finally drive it!

Subanez,

Looks like you got a great deal! I bought a 2000 last November, and I know what I paid for it. Of course I bought mine off of a dealer's auction, so I saw the car and sat it in before I bought it.

Still, 22k for a 2000 is pretty sweet of a deal.

Have fun! Welcome to the club.

LOL...I did not buy all at the same time and do not own most of them anymore. Only the Acura TL, Lexus SUV, Boxster and jet ski. I was just making a point that I had previously purchased all of these cars without driving any of them. As a matter of fact, my first ever drive in any Porsche was AFTER I bought my Boxster S.

I did a factory order Boxster - like many others.

We bought the cars before they were built, much less driven.

I just had another company, AUTO CRITICS, check out the Boxster, and the report is that its in "surprisingly good condition, and whoever has owned it in the past took exceptional care of it."

Thus, I'm even more at ease regarding my newest purchase. Thanks for all the feedback! What do you all think of the rims? I thought they were a little "busy" at first, but they are growing on me.

IMHO - the wheels are one of the best things about the deal, sight unseen.

Never new I would rev so many people up with a comment, towards you and your Boxster purchase.

Must be really easy to get too I guess, makes me laugh...

Weather has been good, 80's and clear. This time of year you get a little dew in the morning - then it clears up.

How is it with you.

what a sweet deal! If I could find one for that price I might consider buying one sooner...maybe....enjoy it! It's a beautiful car. Hopefully before I'm of retirement age I'll be posting my proud pics in here one day.

Haha, thanks. I can't wait to drive it.

This is the first access Ive had to the internet in 3 weeks...I'm currently in North Africa, and they don't exactly have the best internet. I still have yet to see the Boxster, and won't drive it until I return on August first to the US.

I did see one Boxster here so far, but I have to say, the Porsche scene here is not exactly thriving. Enjoy the good roads in the US and be glad you can drive them without 4 wheel drive!
