Question Problem with new boxster

Hi

I have had my boxster for just under a year and have loved every minute of it!! It's like Christmas every day... But I got in my car yesterday and it I noticed it has started to make a slight tapping noise within the engine - oil levels are fine and it stops after a couple of minutes.... just wondered if anybody could offer me any advice??
The car is still under warranty so I will be taking it in to porsche just thought it would be good to have a rough idea before.

Could be several things, Lifter noise, Valve tapping, maybe even EGR valve tapping from what i read in a previous thread. Thats a tough issue to take to the dealer cause by the time you get there, the tapping will be gone and engine sound as smooth as ever when they check it out.

Hi,

FYI, there is no EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculating) valve on the Boxster. Very dated technology that. It was used to re-route exhaust gasses back through the engine until the Catalytic Converter(s) would heat up to operating temperature. The Boxster uses a Secondary Air Pump to add additional oxygen to the exhaust stream for more complete combustion and to heat up the cats...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

Thanks for the help it's appreciated.

Good call, didn't think about it being warm when it got there. Looks like might have to book it in overnight
