Rear Deck lid Struts

Does anyone know if Porsche sells a strut for the rear deck lid that can handle heaver loads?

Situation:
Just installed the Aerokit I which has new deck lid and spoiler, it now appears that the OEM struts can not handle the extra weight and slowly will close once opened.

Thanks

-T

Not that I know of. Your 7 year old struts are probably just a bit weak and now you have the extra weight.

I just bought a pair for the front for my 1997. Got them on ebay. They are made by Stabilus just like the ones sold by Porsche, except I paid $39 for a pair and Porsche wants $39 for just one. Did not ask about the rear struts.

Hi,

IIRC, the Stabilus part # is: O2070-129296 - Front and O2020-129286 - Rear. They are made for Porsche by Stabilus, but available much cheaper through aftermarket sources. Hope this helps...

Hi,

Glad to help. But, be sure to take one along with you so you can compare, I'm not 100% certain of the PNs. NAPA carries Stabilus and their own proprietary NAPA Brand struts are made by them as well...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
