Los Angeles Resident have Durametric tool

I need to turn off the airbag light on my dash, on friday the light turned on and i called the porsche dealer in pasadena and they had record of replacing both seat belt buckles alittle more than 2 years ago, So i checked the fuse in the trunk and the large orange 40A fuse was blown, i replaced it but need a durametric tool to erase the code. can anyone help... would the dealer remove code as courtesy?

I havent tried this but does disconnecting the battery erase the airbag code?

a scanner with the option of clearing codes are always on sale through ebay for like 50 dollars.. but why don't you try to take off the negative side of the battery for like a minute and the put it back it may very well reset the computer memory . The only thing is you need your radio code. I did this with my mercedes ml when the check engine light came on when I changed the MAF. I hope it works out for you.

But I thought the Check Engine light able to reset that way, not the airbag light? Can anyone confirm this before i have to reset my clock and punch in my radio code again?

cj,

that is a crock of ******************** it will take them all of maybe 20 mins the most... but will charge you the hourly rate. I wonder did you explain that the fuse blew and then you were replacing it when it came up. They are going to tell you that they need to check the entire system to reset it. Go to a local mechanic who services porsches if they have the computer they will be able to reset for much cheaper. Here in nj there is a mechanic who does that for bmws and mercedes who charges ilike 75 to reset the service computer ,airbag lights, and clears any faulty codes. Then if they come up again you know you have a problem with that system.. not sure that is the route you want to go

Yeah i figure that they have alot of porsches in the service bay and arent in the giving mood on a busy day. I mean its Beverly Hills and people there dont really care about service charges of $235 and up. I disconnected my battery for about 30 seconds and the light didnt go away. the Fuse didnt blow so i assume i need a durametric tool, checked ebay and didnt find any. Illl try local porsche mechanics for some charity... After X-mas i cant afford to pay even $100 to remove a light that annoys me. The older I get, the less I get and the more I give. Same goes for the Boxster
