The 2.5 has a throttle cable, the 2.7 and 3.2 have e-gas. It would be very expensive and require a new motronic unit and lots of parts to make the 3.2 work in a former 2.5 car.

That's why the 3.4 conversion is so popular - there is a non e-gas version of the 3.4 from the 1999 model year 996 that only needs a custom intake, motor mount, and updated ECU to be good to go. You can take the rest of the engine accessories over from the 2.5 to build out the engine.
