Spark plugs and wires

Has anyone replaced their own spark plugs and wires? I want to learn to do it myself since my friend has the garage and all the tools neccesary to do it. I kind of don't trust the dealer after the convertible-top estimate. The mechanic told me flat that he doesn't feel like timing the convt top motors, which is why he wants to get new motors that will cost me around $900.

I have replaced the plugs. There are no wires as it is the coil on the plug design.
