LED 3rd brake light

Looking into getting a smoked LED 3rd brake light for my car. I've read about having to reverse the polarity on some cars for it to work. Is there any way of knowing beforehand (perhaps based on model year, or options on the car) whether it's plug and play or if it requires a swap of the wires? Also, I read something about the cruise control potentially not working if you install one of these?

Garage
I’ve had one I got off of eBay in my car for 5 years, with no issues. Nor did I have to swap wires around.

Thanks for the pic and glad to hear you had a positive experience with the ebay version. Seems to be a crapshoot as to whether or not you have to do anything to make it work!
