OBC II device

Has anyone successfully tried a reasonably priced Laptop Based or Hand Held OBC II complaint device that picked up not only the Standard Codes, but also the Porsche specific ones? Looking to keep it under the wifes radar of $500.

I have th Durametric tool. It's currently the only reason I can drive the Boxster right now since it can read/clear the codes without turning the engine on (having trouble with a P1502 code currently). It reads the airbag, alarm, A/C systems along with the regular OBD II codes. If you use it for diagnostics where you have a wireless internet connection, you can even click on the codes it pulls and go to their website where it will tell you what other people have done to fix that particular code.

It's a handy tool I wouldn't want to be without, especially since it was under $250 delivered.

another vote for Durametric. the air bag lite was on and the dealer wanted to replace the computer, but the Durametric let me see that it was a seat belt switch instead.

Generic OBD II readers are ok for basic codes but that's about all. Durametric is the next step up and does all that and resets the airbag light but requires a laptop. The next rung up the ladder is a PST2 which does all of the above as well as real time monitoring, logging and the changing of other options and setup elements such as programming, cluster transfer etc. etc.
