Does the Sports Chrono Package Plus improve performance at all???

On the 007 models, the Sports Chrono Package Plus do anything to improve performance???

No, but you can record lap times and improve throttle response.

That article doesn't prove much. The ring is about an 8 minute track for the Cayman and a 3 sec variance could have little or nothing to do with Sport Chrono. The editors of the article didn't seem to be professional drivers....one couldn't even do better than 7.5 sec to 60 mph in a Cayman S? Something is not right there, most publications post sub 5 sec runs. It makes me think these guys are no Walter Rohl when it comes to driving talent and thus are inconsistent. A 3 sec variance could easily be seen on back to back runs with the same car. Now, if they did 10 runs with sport chrono and 10 runs without it and averaged the results that may have some validity.

I like the Sport Chrono option. It was by far the hardest optioned choice I made, because I was just not sure it would do much. The main advantages I see are as following:

1) Re-Maps the throttle response
2) Allows you to access more of the rev range near red-line without the rev-limiter kicking in
3) Allows for more driver input, by engaging the PSM (Porsche Stability Management) at a different level. In other words, you can engage the car in more understeer/oversteer before PSM kicks in, and makes corrections. This was the deal-closer for me and the most noticeable benefit.
4) I don't have PASM, but the SC does interact nicely with PASM
5) SC Plus just allows additional programming features with some of your "creature comforts"

I agree with Adam. The article was written by amateurs and most of it didn't even make much sense, especially the simplistic and airy comparisons btw the Boxster, Cayman and the 911. The Sports Chrono (faster throttle response) does NOT add performance. PASM does -- and only by lowering the car and making it stiffer.

Yes, one could argue that delaying PSM improves performance. But in my experience couple of weekends ago and in the rain, the timing was just right the couple of times it turned itself on. Had PSM switched on any later my performance would have decreased quite a bit -- smth like the two GT3s' that got mashed pretty bad after skidding out.
