Airbag Light

I just replaced my turn signal switch stalk and now the airbag warning light is on. Does the airbag system need to be reset, or did I damage the airbag spring switch?

Regards,
mike

Was the battery hooked up and did you turn the ignition key on when you replaced the switch assembly?

Yes, you will have to have it reset

I have read several thread that indicates if you disconnect your battery overnight it will clear it, I tried that, even had it disconnected for three days and it didn't work, also read somewhere that it will clear after 50 cycles, that hasn't work either.

Some dealers will clear it for free, most will charge you. I opted to purchase the diagnostic tool from Durametric ($247), since I attend to keep my Boxster and do all my own work.

For the record-The reason my light came on was self inflicted (bonehead move). I was replacing the window regulator, had the battery disconnected, I reconnected the battery to check the operation and adjustment of the window before I put everything back together, yep, had the airbag disconnected/removed creating the fault.

Thanks johne4.
I also have the Durametric software and I will reset it when I get my connector back (left it at my Dad's place last month).
That is a handy piece of software to have. I had to reset my ABS system after a speed sensor replacement- worked like a charm.

Tool Pants- the battery was disconnected when the switch was replaced and when the airbag was removed/replaced.

The switch replacement was easier than I expected. Those 2 torx screws holding the airbag were a little tricky to remove because of how far they are recessed.
I upgraded to the 4-stalk switch and will wire the OBC stalk to the intrument cluster when I get the wire/connector that was out-of-stock.

I bought the switch from Sunset Porsche and Jeff was very helpful in ensuring that I got all the parts I needed. The switch lists for $237 and their price was $157.

Thanks for the help.

Airbag lights will not go off even you leave the battery disconnected for two weeks. Don't ask me how I learned this.

It requires a PST II tool, or the software they just came out with for $249
