Smile Saved over $700.00 thanks to this site!

I want to thank everybody who responded to the rear humming noise coming from the rear of my 99 boxster. It was a wheel bearing and I was able to remove the entire housing and take it to a local shop in Lake Elsinore, "Gearhardt's".. They have been around since 1960. They pressed out the old bearing and pressed the new one in for only $20.00. The dealer wanted $450-$500 for this job.

1. Bearing cost $74.00 (from dealer)
2. Used a loaner tool (Ball joint Separater from Autozone).

Completed my own 45,000 mile maint.

1. Pollen filter $29.00 Autozone
2. Air filter 21.00 INABA auto parts (Riverside, Ca.)
3. Polyrib belt (after I reach 60,000) $24.59 INABA
4. Oil filter $13.85 INABA
5. Oil (Mobil One synthetic) Autozone 9 qts. $$43.50.
6. 6 NGK spark plugs $29.95 Autozone.

Taking into account what the dealer would have charged for the polyrib belt of at least $50.00, I saved over $700.00. I learned how to do a majority of these repairs from this site. Thanks again!!!
