Question 2000 Boxster S engine reliability

Hello all,

Are the engine failures that seem to happen to the 2.5L and 2.7L also happen to the 2000 3.2L?

How about the rear main seal? Has anyone done a DIY repair on the RMS? (I have rebuilt motors before and am not afraid of pulling motors.. unless it requires a lift)

TIA

I've just purchased a 2000 Boxster S that has a brand new engine in it (less than 1K mile). The previous owner was losing coolant, but when he added it, it just disappear after a few miles of driving.
When he took it to the dealer, it was discovered that coolant was going into engine compartment, so they have to replace the engine.

When I was looking to buy the Boxster S, I've seen 2 others that also have the engine replaced. In fact, one car has 2 replaced engine...
