How to work under my boxster
I dont have access to a lift of any sort and would like to be able to work under the car. What sort of things are folks using to get under their Boxster to do things like oil changes and such. Jacks/blocks, ramps, extreme diets?

Racing floor jack (low clearance), jack stands and ramps. Diets just won't work, so eat another piece of pie while you drive over to Pep Boys to buy these items.

If you buy the right floor jack, you don't need a jack pad. Just thought I'd throw this in the mix. Racing Jacks have a wide, flat pad without the huge lip on it that you find on cheaper units from Sears, for example.

Floor jacks and stands. Big footprint, 6 ton stands so it would take a hurricane to push it side-to-side.

Another idea would be to use the emergency jack to get the car high enough to fit a regular car jack undereath it(at the other end of the car),and then use the car jack with a hockey puck in the jack pad. Then put a jack stand at each end of the car just in case. This is how I will be lifting the car up for the spark plug change comming up,since I do not have car ramps yet.

if jack clearance is you issue, just lay a 1inch thick block of wood infront of your rear tire, and drive on top of it....now your box will be high enough to fit an average sized jack underneath it......No Diets wont help but they will make your Boxster seats stop from jabbing you in your love handles and your underwear from balling up between your legs lol

Go to Wal-Mart and buy a set of Rhino Ramps. They work like a charm.

For quickie oil changes nothin' beats the Rhino's. Don't forget to block the front tires though.
