Thumbs up Exhaust idle problem

I am new to the Porsche world. I bought a 1999 boxster. I've had it about three weeks. Started the car yesterday and the idle was rough the exhaust note was deep and throaty. I am now t sure if there after butterfly valves in the exhaust. I think that if there are they are stuck open. My question is do I have them, where are they and is this a repair or replace item?

Does your exhaust look like the one in the link? The valves are on the ends of the muffler.

Well then you probably don't have a PSE. You may still have valves if someone did a custom fab, but that's not likely. Do you have a set of ramps? Any way you could get some pictures under the car? Look at the ends of the muffler, are the U bends that transition to the muffler there or is one possibly missing?
