MIL stands for "Malfunction Indicator Light", and is a widely used term in automive circles. While most are used to CEL for "Check engine light", it only refers to one light. MIL applies to all of the "idiot lights" on the dash(CEL, airbags, seatbelt, your car payment is due, etc).

Thanks again JFP, all this will add to my knowledge and understanding of this area of fault finding.

A list of Porsche related acronyms is here. It has been updated with even 918 related terms.

Every time I see one I didn't recognize, I add it. And oddly enough, "MIL" wasn't in it till now.

I invite suggestions for additions.

Thanks Mike, this is a very handy list, I think I will print it off and put it in my diagnostic kit box.
