Brake Hose ends

Does anyone here know which fittings are on 2002 Boxster brake hoses?

I'm considering changing my hoses to Earls Stainless Steel Braided hoses, but the Tech guys there don't know which fittings the Boxster requires. Their solution is around $65. or so, including shipping. Their hoses are high quality PTFE with Stainless Steel Braid, and they're pressure tested to 4000psi prior to shipment.

The alternative is $130. or more from other sources, but the steel braiding is carbon steel with a transparent cover, NOT Stainless braid.

In addition the the ends, I think they need to go on in a certain orientation or else there will be a lot of twisting when installing them which can strain the ends. Maybe you can buy an OEM used one from woody and ship it to them so they can match it?

Edit: Or even a new one, like ATE brand, like $15-$20, send it to them and let them credit you the $20. If they really have a good product for $65 they would sell a ton.

Well.... I might as well remove one from front & rear, determine what the connections are, and then see if they can match them, or as you mention, find a cheapie, and send it to them. Not that I want to buy one, send it, etc., as I'd like 'em in a day or two...

The flexible hoses are the same at each end, at least the ones I just installed were.
I used Troutman SS with plastic covers over the braid. IIRC, they were ~$100 for all 4

I was told that one end needed a D shape, but my factory ones were round

Just buy premade ones.

Troutman hoses are described as steel braided, NOT stainless steel braided, and that's why they need the clear plastic sleeve; to prevent ugly surface rust.

In order to procure the correct hose, however, I need the exact thread description, not just the OD of the hose end. Does anyone know whether the fitting is english or metric? And what the thread might be?

Also, the Earl hoses are available in either 3mm or 4mm ID, which would also need to be known in order to fit the existing hose ends if they must be re-used.

Troutman lines are stainless steel, not regular steel. The plastic sleeve is just for additional protection.
BTW, at warehouse33auto.com with the 10% rennlist discount the set is $87

IMHO, By having hoses made, you are making something that is simple, complicated.

And even less at Harbor Freight but they do not have the "Flex" feature which can be so useful in cramped places.

Do you US folks not have HEL or Goodridge braided lines? These sell for equivalent of $85-100 for a full set in the UK.

I have a set of flex flare wrenches from Amazon, I hate the flex feature. It always seems to bend away at the worst time. I got a 9x11mm and 10x12mm snap-on flare wrenches used on eBay, great for our brake sizes.
