2006 Boxster transmission problem?

I just pick my new 2006 Boxster last Saturday. I haven’t driven a Manual Transmission in few years.

The last time I had a stick shift, (my old Honda), I remember that To prevent rollback or roll forward you will do the following. If car facing up hill you put 1st gear and you was facing down hill you put reverse and this will lock the Wheel and avoid a rollback or forward.

If I park the Porsche up hill and set the gear to 1st,
It wills rollback. If I parked the car down hill
And set the gear to reverse, the car will roll forward.

It this a common behavior on a Boxster Transmission or
I have a Transmission problem?

Thanks
Franz

Franz229, you should set the e-brake too. Park in 1st gear is fine with the e-brake. When parking on steep hills, also turn the steering wheel into the curb for added protection.
