I'm no mechanic, but when buying any Porsche, even from a friend, have a pre-purchase inspection done by a qualified shop. A failing gearbox could just be the beginning. Worst case scenario, you add $300 to the cost of the car. Best case scenario, you spend $300 to save many, many thousands.
