Wind deflector Clip
Hi fellow Boxster owners
One of the clips on my roll over hoop is missing that holds my wind deflector in place. Iv ordered a new used one from a breaker comes tomorrow Has any one fitted one before, seemingly they are riveted onto the metal bracket that is attached to the hoop. Looking at the one thats still there I cant see how it is attached. thanks in advance peterhttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1468932963.jpg |
I too have broken clips. I looked at the existing clip on the roll bar and once you remove the padding, you'll see the rivet. The new kit comes with a new rivet and all you do is drill out the old rivet and install the new clip.

I think he means the padding on the roll bar, towards the seats. It just pops off. You need to pry it off with a screwdriver or trim tool.
Exactly, once that's off, then you'll see the single rivet holding the clip to the roll bar.
Does anyone happen to have the part number for the clip? I haven't been able to find it.
Maybe my google-fu is not up to snuff. |
It's much easier to just call your Porsche dealer and order the parts, they're around $9.00 per side.
$11 at suncoast parts for both sides. Search Boxster windscreen clip and you should find it
I believe the $11.00 at Suncoast is just for the arms and not the base pivot with the ""Super Special Porsche Rivet""" (being facetious of course)
Replaced both on my car. They were 2 piece parts from the local dealer. Don't recall any special rivet
My dealer has the kit, (he actually has to order the kit) but, it consists of the lever, the base and the rivet that secures the base to the roll bar (behind the padding)
This might have the parts other than the lever..986.561.323.00

iv successfully sorted it and only took about ten mins. As mentioned above I prised off the padding attached to the hoop. there is 3 points of contact, one near the seat belt holder. one in the centre of the hoop at the top and one one the other side (that one I left fastened). I started at the door/seat belt side and push my screwdriver up from the bottom where the padding stops as the clips are in the middle. Came away easily but took the plastic lugs out of the hoops with it. i just unscrewed these from the metal prongs that are attached to the padding then inserted them back in the holes on the hoop. Drilled out the rivet holding the broken bracket then used a normal rivet to attach new bracket. them popped the padding back on. Caution: Be careful when drilling out the old rived you don't slip and scratch the hoop, I did but luckily the new bracket covered it. Sorry don't know part number as I bought the clip from a breaker. Next Job, Yellow seat belts! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1469090723.jpg |
Is a "breaker" what we would call an "Auto dismantler"
