engine How hard is it to drop

I would like to know the how hard it is to drop the engine? is that the best way to work on engine? I am looking into buying a manual to help me through this procedure. I just purchased a 1997 boxster and i want to start pulling it a part as soon as it get s delivered. I would like to be aware of any pitfalls before I get started

Depending on what you want to do you may not have to drop the engine. I suggest you go to a Porsche dealer and see how they do it on a lift if they will let you watch. I watched my mechanic friend for 2 hours then the shop manager chased me away.

There is no aftermarket shop manual, just the factory, and the factory one is lousy for a DIYer. Jeff

In my own opinion, I think the boxster is one of the best cars to get to the engine to work on it...

There are three major ways to get to your boxster/boxster s engine...

1.) From inside the car (behind the seats)
2.) From above the engine (under covertible top)
3.) From under car (where engine is removed from)

Here's a picture from inside my 2001 boxster, with the inside cover removed, the above cover removed, and the engine removed... It should explain more! :-)
