Headlight Removal Tool?
Hey guys,
The Headlight Removal Tool was not in my tool kit when I bought my car (2002 S). Does anyone know where I might find one? I know that a 5mm socket on an extension will work... I'd just like to have an original. thanks Don |
It must be a popular item, it was missing from the car I bought too.

Just call the parts department at your nearest Porsche dealership, they usually have them in stock.

This is what the headlight tool looks like :
For the OEM item: http://www.ecstuning.com/ES1511962/ A 5mm socket+wobble extension is an upgrade on the OEM tool: |

The OEM tool is crap. Mine split and would not allow it to grip the shaft properly. Others have reported this too. Just use a socket and driver.

Disagree. Take it from someone who actually knows.
If used correctly, the correct Porsche made tool is ideal. Sockets fall off and are a PITA. ;) I've used it hundreds of times. If you are using enough force to break it, you weren't using it correctly or your mechanism is bound, so you should address the real issue before you strip the lock bar and even a socket won't save you. :) You'll be stuck with a headlight that you can't remove and a car that you can't drive due to burnt out bulbs that you now can't replace because you decided to use a jerry-rigged solution instead of actually fixing the problem. But hey, what do I know  |

The PN for the OEM Headlight removal tool is: 999.571.076.02, they run about $13-15.
Edit: Just notice Gelbster posted this via a link to ECS, beat me too it! ;) |
