engine swap question

hi! so ...

if I wanted to put a 996.2 engine into a 987.1 cayman, all the mechanicals would be as per a standard engine swap (both single fuel line, variocam+, canbus, etc,) and the ecu would be the same and running a 7.8 dme.

my question is in regards to the 7.8 dme flash. if I put a flash on it specific to the engine, would I lose the 987.1 functionality such as pasm and sport chrono?

thanks for any thoughts on this. trk.

Don't know if this helps but I put a 996 motor in my 986. Used 986 DME with a 996 ROW flash and lost none of my existing 986 functions. I should say with two exception:::::: I was able to eliminate the Post CAT oxygen sensors and the secondary air pump and vacuum lines. I also added a 996 gauge cluster and it worked well
with the ROW flash and 986 DME.
