Check Engine Light - broken AOS tube?

I just changed out the spark plug tubes on the passenger side (American) and I reconnect ed the AOS (which I had removed think it was the source of an oil leak).

One thing I did do wrong is I broke the top tube of the AOS.

In my desire to run it and see if I fixed the oil leak, I duct taped (yeah, I know!) the flexible hose on the top of the AOS.

It does seem to run a bit rougher (but I don't have a long history with the car as I bought it as a fixer upper) and then the check engine light started to flash.

It had the check engine light on when I bought it and I think it was related to the alternator (which I fixed just before it started smoking badly out the right inlet).

Does it make sense that the broken AOS tube would cause this?

Should I not run it at all?
Should I not drive it (I wouldn't drive it far anyway) but I do need to get it to the dealer or somewhere else to reset the codes. (Wanted to knock out as many problems as I could before I go see the dealer because I know they'll want to give me a big song-an-dance and a big estimate to go with it).

P.S. I did run it for a long while and it didn't seem to leak (other than a wet underside).

Your comments are appreciated!

Do not run the car when the check engine light is flashing.

Buy a reader and read the codes and post them here

Thanks !!!
Do I need to buy a code reader? If so what kind and how much?

I could trailer it if necessary.

I think I will buy the tube and see if that stops the flashing CEL.

Note: it doesn't start flashing until it has run a few minutes.
