Exhaust and Coil-Overs

Ahh yes.

This is the week boys.

Installing:

1) Voghtland Coil Overs (30-50mm adjustable)

2)Alignment and Corner Balance

3) 45,000 mile service

4) Coolant Reservior replacement

5) Drop off my ride at Magnaflow for a custom exhaust on Thursday...picking up next Wednesday night (I'll be out of town)

On the exhaust side, I'll give everyone a heads up next Thursday. I should have dyno runs sheets before and after.

Thier basically new struts and springs but the ride height can be adjusted from 30mm - 50 mm LOWER than stock ride height.

have you ridden in a car with this suspension kit before? I've had some real night mares in previous cars with rolling the dice. I was running one set of springs that had spring rates way to soft for the car and it resulted in titanic bottoming out. It took several set of springs before the right spring rate was discovered and lots of expensive labor. The ride height is easy enough to adjust but like racing teams that keep 15 set of springs, finding the magic number can be the difference between hitting it dead on or loosing all your fillings.

True. Adjustable suspension is a godsend and a hellish nightmare. Fifteen million settings, of which only one set is right.

A professional suspension tuner is a must with full adjustable coilovers.

with Hergesheimer Motorsports (Avid Porsche Cup prep facility, Porsche Only repair facility) I should be in good hands.

http://www.herg.net/

They are obviously aligning PLUS corner balancing too.

oh yeah those are well known guys. If you get a chance ask them to give you the before and after aligment numbers and the spring rates vs. stock (do you have an S?) so you can post here.
I'm curious to see the difference in your rear camber before and after. I'm considering the Billstein CO's at at some point.

Coil-Overs INSTALLED!!

Ahhh yes. The true meaning of driving a perfectly set up Boxster is at my fingertips.

Turn in: Buttery smooth

Control: took a freeway on-ramp at 100mph felt glued to the road.

Ride comfort: Sporty feel to it with much better suspension control than the stock struts/coils.

Pros: Much better turn in, supreme stability in turns, looks baddass, less suspension slop, adjustable ride height that I will not touch, spent about $2000 including parts and to get everything installed.

Cons: Tighter initial travel (but not backbreaking)

Overall am VERY pleased with the set up, and actually I believe the alignment and corner balance was the best thing to top it off. At stock height the car felt like it was riding on its tippy toes, now it drives glued to the road.

Exhaust Installed.

no Dyno results sorry.

With Top up:

Low resonance between 2200-2800 RPM. I cruise at 3000 RPM on the freeway in 6th so i'm good

Great smooth deep tone, very satisfied with the results.

With the top down, perhaps the resonance will disappear.....will keep you updated.

Awesome! thanks for the vids! You don't happen to have any from straight behind do you? Also it would be awesome to get a good long run of you headed away from the camera!

Nice. Thanks for posting. I have never seen a race track with so many trees and driveways on it before.

In the second vid – is that trailer across the street one of those Police “you are going X MPH” trailers?
