Trunk problem rears its head

"02 Boxster

I put some beers in the trunk and went to my softball game on Sunday. get ready to go to the field and "click click". Rear trunk doesn"t open with either button fob or door sill. So I get home and search the forum and find the release cable behind the tail light and it opened.

I had to buy the whole actuator because they don't sell the cable separately. I take the spoiler drive mechanism partially apart just enough to get the actuator in and button it up.

$180 and 1 1/2 hrs or wrenching and it fixed. This forum was extremely helpful in finding the emergency cable and a idea of what it took to swap it out.

So far since I bought this car in 08/12 I've replaced or installed:

ignition switch
head light switch
water pump
low temp thermostat
short shifter
4 tires
2 key fobs
blue tooth ipod adapter
under drive pulley
I remember reading a post that said to keep 2k a year for maintenance. So true but worth it it for me
