AOS Replaced, now cannot shift beyond 2nd

Have a 02 Boxster S. Today I had my AOS replaced by a local generic auto mechanic, I provided part etc.

It is an experienced shop but not specific to Porsches.

When I picked up the car I quickly realized I could engage reverse, first and second but could not physically move the shifter to a position such that could engage third through sixth. :ah:

Tech put the car on lift and fiddled with shift linkage. We could then get all gears but after a short distance the problem reappeared.

They have the car tonight and my hope is this is a simple issue resolved tomorrow morning, however I know the AOS is in a position that is in the proximity of where the shift linkages connect to the tranny. So clearly they messed something up when AOS was replaced.

Any ideas as to what transpired?

Thanks in advance,

Joe in Atlanta
