Anyone have problems with a "Whining" fuel pump?

Hi Gentilemen and Ladies...
Being PC...

Anyway, I have been noticing a whining sound from the left rear of the car when I am stopped in traffic or the car is idling. This is usully accompanied with a semi-rough idle. My idle rpm is about 700 to 800. Remembering back to my VW tuning days, a whining from that spot indicated a possibly failing fuel pump.
Mind you, there is no performance issue when accelerating or crusing.

Has anyone had an issue like this. If so, did you replace the fuel pump or what?
It may be another issue all together...
By the way, car has 25k miles on it 2001 S.

Thanks as always!
