That should be the case with most later model (late '80s-present) Porsches that use the 8" wide rear wheels. Before then, most had 7" wide rears.

I'm sure you've seen them; there are lots of them for sale on Ebay. Not the best nor the worst looking Porsche wheel.

Yeah, I am fine with those - I am much more concerned with cheap than with style for my winter set.

I won't be seeing my car for at least 6 weeks and would appreciate feedback from someone that has driven the 987 with the 986 wheels. Have fun with it.

Ack, according to my dealer and a sales rep from tirerack.com, the 986 wheels won't fit on my 987 - maybe they are wrong - anyway, I got a good deal from tirerack on a set of knockoff cup 3 wheels and conti winter sports. Hopefully get them this week.

I'm curious why: is it the 5mm spacers needed in the rear?
The PCA Q&A said they would fit, but the rears would look a little funny.

Good question. I don't know. The salesman didn't say why. I had heard so many different oppinions on whether it would work or not, I just decided it wasn't worth the savings and didn't bother with it.

If anyone does pull this off, I would be interested in hearing about the experience.
