I'm pretty sure you are free to add PS cooling, since it is not power enhancing nor aero enhancing. However, I'm not sure (yet) how necessary it is. I had more than my share of PS problems in my pre-"spec" days, ending with a leak where the hard line returns into the lower reservoir and the heat can melt or crack the plastic fitting there.

My own advice, that I am taking, is to keep going with just the underdrive pulley and removed AC, and see if that keeps it cool enough to be leak-free, since I have not heard of PS problems for other SPB drivers with the same.

(The removal of the AC compressor removes the problem area where the compressor sandwiches down on the PS return line, which I suspect may cause the line to come in contact with the engine block and become a heat sink. Even if not in direct contact there is almost no space there, so it must get really hot. Heat insulating wrap does seem like a good idea there if you have AC.)
