I heard through a usually reliable source that the owner of a Porsche GT (the half-million dollar one) brought his car in to the dealer for a new clutch. The car had 900 miles on it. The replacement cost $48,000.
900 miles, $48,000. Yep. And no warranty coverage.
Does that sound right to you guys? Is there no warranty on the GT? Could a new clutch cost that much?
Sounds like folklore to me. Give your trusty service advisor a call at your local dealership and ask him to look it up for you. I bet he'll do it just to find out himself.
...then post his reply. At that low mileage, I bet it's covered under the warranty.
The owner does not race the car. The first replacement he had to sign something and it was covered under warranty. Now he has to pay for the second replacement. For local people that CGT was on display at the San Jose Grand Prix. It is a multi disc ceramic. There is only 1 mechanic at my dealer that is permitted to replace it. The car has to be strapped to the lif or it will fall off when the engine is removed.
