Hi Nobby, thank you for your response.
I guess I failed to explain myself.
As you can see at my pictures 2 & 4, instead of sliding the blue part and disconnecting the cable from the shift link, I disconnected the shift link from the shifter it self.
Now, when I put it back it doesn't lock on the shaft. I'm not sure if I need to use more force to lock it. The little rivet kind of throw me off. Usually a rivet like that will be used to lock or secure something, in this case it looks like it is just seating there.
Unless I'm missing a part, or I broke the linkage
