Quick update, stopped by at the dealership, car hooked up and it shows that the O2 sensors are actually ok, the heaters don't work, seemes to be a wiring issue.

Good thing my car is CPO, won't cost me anything to get fixed but I need to make an appointment first. I can drive and it won't hurt anything.

More after the repair!

andy - the heaters are part of the O2 sensors.

FYI, theres is an O2 sensor heater circuit that runs through a relay in the trunk. again, when i had this issue, the heater on ONE of the O2 sensors was bad & it threw codes for all four.

FYI, a scanner still showed this sensor as functional. one has to physically measure impedance across the heater at the O2 sensor to be sure it works.

CEL fixed!

Car was at the dealership and they replaced both secondary O2 sensors. The sensors worked but the heating element on both were shot. Even the tech who I know for many years was a bit baffled, he kinda suggested to put spacers in there..... he also thought that maybe the bipass pipes might be a reason, something like "less back pressure causes the heating elements to stay on longer thus causing possible damage" but we agreed that this is highly unlikely......

Let's see if the problem comes back.

Thanks all for the input!!

BTW, the bill would have been 900 bucks, thanks to CPO I paid exactly nothing!

I've had my bypass pipes on for years now and have never triggered a CEL. I imagine your's must have been a one off case.

AndyA6 12-30-2011 03:24 PM

Sofar no further problems, no CEL or any other ill effects.

Love this mod!

Just a few days ago I installed secondary bypass pipes on my wifes Cayenne S. Very easy to do with the right tools, without the right tools not do-able.
Now, talk about a difference! Sound is way louder at WOT, more power as well. Idle and cruising same noise level as before.

Happy New Year!!!

Later,
Andy

I was getting simular & more codes after reinstalling my rebuilt 3.6 engine. A slow MAS was the cause replaced it & no more cel.

I was quoted $160 for the pair, hope I'm near the top of the wait list for Debloz. Still waiting.....

Can you guys post a link for the Stebro and the Debloz?
I can't find both of them on google.
The one I found on the Stebro site includes the exhaust as well.
Thanks.

Debloz (may be mispelled) was a sponser on this site & is all over E-bay selling headers for $200

Stebro is in Canada but the pipes I had from them were not mandrel bent & rubbed my sheet metal brace so they may not be available.

I purchased my Fabspeed pipes "lightly used" from another forum member four years ago for $300 shipped...they had hardly even "blued".

I stopped by and talked with the guys at topspeed. They have older 2.7 bypass pipes in stock and the newer 3.2 bypass pipes should be in around first of May
