I just noticed a very hard shift into reverse on my 2006 Boxster. 23K mi. Never did it before and nothing has changed. All other gears are good. Any ideas????

Is it hard to pull the shifter into the slot while the engine is running?
Is it easier if you shut the engine off and try slipping it into the slot?

If easier with engine off, usually points to a problem with the clutch (pressure plate).
If hard all the time, usually points to internal trans issue.

BC.
