1999 996 3.4 in to my 2001 986 ?'s

I know it has been done a lot so please help,

what does it take to get a 996 3.4 from a 99' into my 2001 boxster, it would be paired up with a six speed..

Please facts only.

I don't specialize in conversions and don't carry them out, BUT you need to research the things that need to be done to that engine before installation. The 3.4 engines are among the worst in factory form. The 99 models have higher cylinder failures than any other.

Do your homework and don't just "bolt the engine in".

The 01 has the most flexibility. Here's a good resource:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/11-ENGINE-911_Engine_Swap/11-ENGINE-911_Engine_Swap.htm

Based on what I've read I'd also be leery of the early 3.4. One local indy had a 3.4 with a vibe problem that he fought for a long time to diagnose. I don't know that he ever did.

its one of those deals where I have the 996 engine and a boxster needing one... and none of which are any good sitting by themselves.
