you want what kind of tranny?

why is a 5 speed not going to cut it? what can you do with a 6speed that you can't do with a 5speed? I heard that the g87 getrag 5speed from a base boxster or cayman 987 is the best porsche transmission for a boxster. it is lighter than the six speed and there is no use for an extra gear if your engine has a decent powerband, other than saving fuel. and a tRiptronic, as you call it(Porsche calls their regular torque converter and planetary 5speed automatics tiptronic) is used, the car will be slower and get worse fuel milage. the tiptronic automatic transmission adds 150lbs in the worst possible spot, the very rear of the car. the PDK, if you can work out the electronics to install one, might be faster and get better milage than the regular standards or automatics, but handling would still suffer from the extra weight even if you if you could work out the electronics.
