Ignition timing?

Hi guys,

wondering if there is a guide on how
to view/change ignition timing on a 2.5 986?

Thanks,
Sam

These cars aren't like your Chevy 350 where you can simply adjust the distributor. If you want to make adjustments to the timing or fuel curves of any modern car, you need access to software that will let you change those values in the DME (German speak for ECU- Engine Control Unit).

Being practical, there's really no way for you to change anything. You can buy different maps from various tuners, and there are plenty of threads here to read more on that topic.

I suppose the better question is, why would you want to change the timing?

Hi,

thanks for the respone. Not wanting to adjust fuel or ignition curves, just want to take 2 degree's timing out overall. If this can only be done via a flash of the ecu, then I guess thats what I will have to do.

Wanting to take some timing out for a small shot of nitrous.

Regards,
Sam

well well i,m about a day from sprayin BUT i,ve no luck getting into the ECM. i need to be in complete charge of the E throttle mine is an auto so i have to shorten up shift time and firmness, any torque management must go. so far no help from any tuners. i,m old ls1/ls7 sprayer and i,m going with 75 shot so i,m not worried about pulling timing...i gave up on installing a rpm switch [msd window switch] i,m using a kit from my z06 TNT. IF I DONT GET INTO THE ecm ALL BETS ARE OFF .this is an 09 cay

No progress with ign timing, but will give a small spray as is. Using wizards of nos kit with top end controller. Should be good!

Not to be a prick, but has anyone ever pointed out to you the fact that "I'm" is spelled with an apostrophe ( ' ), not a comma ( , )? In all honesty, when you write worse than a 3rd grader, it makes it very difficult for others to take you seriously.

Unfortunately the boxsters are getting old now, and it seems they have devalued sufficiently to come into the hands of the proletariate.

Extanker really wants to be Ali G.

Ex-yanker is more appropriate.

Either that or we have found the grammatical genius behind "I can has cheezburger"
